Kurt Löffler, MSc, PhD

Dr. Kurt Löffler is a co-founder of Accovion and has been one of its managing directors since 2002. His responsibilities on the board of managing directors focus on biostatistics, data management, medical informatics, and IT.  

Before founding Accovion, he was senior director and departmental head of biostatistics and clinical data management at Aventis (formerly Hoechst AG) in Frankfurt, Germany. Previously, he held positions as director of clinical data management at Hoechst Marion Roussel, as project leader for the worldwide implementation of Clintrial®-the clinical data management system at Hoechst AG-and as head of biometrics at Cassella.

Prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry, Kurt was a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich, where he was responsible for clinical biostatistics and biomathematics research in the psychophysiological laboratory unit.

He holds an MSc in Mathematics and Informatics from the Munich University of Technology, and a PhD from the University of Tübingen.

Kurt has more than 20 years' professional experience as a clinical biostatistician. He has contributed to drug development projects in various therapeutic areas and has authored or co-authored numerous clinical study protocols, clinical study reports, publications, and congress proceedings. He regularly conducts seminars in statistics and related areas. He has a particular interest in the application of innovative biostatistical methods and data management technology to accelerate drug development, such as the use of electronic data capture to enable implementations of adaptive trial designs.
