Accovion launches new subsidiary in Spain

Eschborn, 22 June 2012 – Accovion launches new subsidiary in Spain

Accovion GmbH, a full-service provider of clinical development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries and headquartered in Eschborn, Germany, announces the establishment of an additional subsidiary in Spain. The main office is located in Madrid and is complemented by a regional presence in Barcelona. Together with Poland, Russia, Romania, Czech Republic and United Kingdom, Accovion is now able to present itself with six subsidiaries in total, which further emphasizes the international growth of the company. With its expansion, Accovion aims to offer its clients a broader spectrum of country-specific clinical research expertise providing the quality services that Accovion is known for.

On 1 June 2012, Verónica de Lázaro Vettorello was appointed Country Director, Spain, taking over the business activities of Accovion in the country. Ivana Waller, Chief Operating Officer of Accovion, states: “We are very pleased to have gained Verónica de Lázaro Vettorello as Country Director, Spain. Verónica is a Spanish native speaker and has been working for Accovion as a Senior Biostatistician in Eschborn for more than two years. We are confident that her clinical expertise, business acumen, and good knowledge of the local pharmaceutical industry will ensure that our operations in Spain will continue to flourish.”

"It is a great pleasure and exciting challenge for me to support Accovion to build up business in Spain", emphasizes Verónica de Lázaro Vettorello with regard to her new responsibilities. "Spain represents a key strategic territory for Accovion. When it comes to conducting clinical trials in Europe, Spain is among the top five within Europe. In addition, it is worth mentioning that Accovion has contributed to the two major drugs approved in 2011 in Spain. Another important aspect is that the majority of our clients conduct clinical trials in Spain. The country has a very well-established clinical research scenery, excellently educated clinical research professionals (e.g. Spanish association of CROs) and well-known medical hospital quality. I am looking forward to my new tasks and the challenge of establishing new business opportunities for Accovion in Spain. Together we will pursue Accovion’s successful development and will further increase our international market share of high value clinical development services”, comments Verónica de Lázaro Vettorello.
